“I started in a converted horse stable with no running water. My daily driver was a 1966 Split Window VW microbus. It was 1991, and I just wanted to do something I loved… and to be able to eat.” stated Todd Sager, AWE President, CEO, and Founder.

November 2021 represents AWE’s 30th year in business (to the month), and as seen on the AWE website, the brand has evolved quite a bit from its “humble roots working on 16V Volkswagens."

The brand spent its first two decades evolving European vehicles with its special blend of precision automotive performance.

“Little did I know back then that our foundation of developing upgrades for highly-engineered German cars would set a standard of quality that would ultimately pave the way for our expansion into other markets,” Sager said.

The company first expanded beyond Volkswagen / Audi / Porsche and into BMW in 2014, and soon after moved into their massively upgraded four-acre headquarters. AWE added Mercedes in 2016, and then took the broad leap beyond European vehicles into the Modern Muscle market in 2017 with their Mustang exhaust line.

“This was the first time we proved to the world that AWE was a leader not only in precision European vehicle performance parts. The rocket was about to take off,” stated Jesse Kramer, AWE’s Vice President of Marketing.

Part of AWE’s success in the exhaust market can be attributed to AWE’s patented drone-canceling solution, 180 Technology®, which not only delivers a perfectly tailored soundtrack for each application but also delivers the same performance gains as seen on a straight piped system.

AWE has since exploded into the Sport Compact market (Toyota Supra, Honda Civic, Subaru), additional Modern Muscle markets (Camaro, Corvette, Mopar), Truck (Ford F-150, Ranger, Raptor, RAM TRX and 1500), and Jeep--AWE’s largest market launch to date.

AWE currently employs a staff of 75, most of whom are on the manufacturing floor, keeping with the AWE positioning of not only “The Best Sounding Exhausts on the Planet™” but also staying true to its Made in the USA roots. While Made in the USA, AWE also exports to 33 countries, a true global brand.

As a part of AWE’s 30-year campaign, it has produced a special limited edition “30 years of AWE” tees, available on the AWE website.
